Hanns Joachim Friedrichs  made a variation of the quote popular in Germany :  „Einen guten Journalisten erkennt man daran, dass er Distanz zum Gegenstand seiner Betrachtung hält; dass er sich nicht gemeinmacht mit einer Sache, auch nicht mit einer guten Sache; dass er immer dabei ist, aber nie dazugehört.“
